2019 Jeep Wrangler Powertrain Review

If you want an energetic engine that’ll kick-start your adventure, you’ll be happy with either of the two engine options in the 2019 Wrangler. They are:

• 2.0L Turbo I-4 with eTorque: 270 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque
• 3.6L Pentastar® V6: 285 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque

You’ll be impressed with either engine, both of which feature a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The 2.0L turbo engine also comes with eTorque as an added benefit. This is a Mild Hybrid System that uses a Li-Ion battery and 12 Kw motor to improve acceleration, maximize power, and increase capability without sacrificing efficiency.

It’s this system that helps the 2.0L engine achieve an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 23 MPG city and 25 MPG highway.

Depending on your engine, you can round out your powertrain with either a 6-speed manual transmission for ultimate control or an available 8-speed automatic transmission that provides maximum efficiency.

The Command-Trac® and Rock-Trac® 4WD systems feature a shift-on-the-fly transfer case and respective low modes designed to help you conquer even the most challenging of trails. The Rock-Trac® system even has a 4:1 low gear ratio and Tru-Lok® electronic locking front and rear differentials that make sure you’re always ready for a challenge.
