2019 Ram 1500 Powertrain Review

Of course, it wouldn’t be a 2019 Ram 1500 review without talking about the powertrain. You’ll have the capability to tackle any challenge with any of the three powertrain options available to you:

• 3.6L Pentastar® V6 w/ eTorque: 305 horsepower, 269 lb-ft of torque
• 5.7L HEMI® V8: 395 horsepower, 410 lb-ft of torque
• 5.7L HEMI® V8 w/ eTorque: 395 horsepower, 410 lb-ft of torque

As you can see, the HEMI® engine is available with or without eTorque, but what exactly is eTorque? It’s an innovative mild hybrid system that uses a Li-Ion battery and 12 Kw motor to improve acceleration, maximize power, and increase capability without sacrificing efficiency.

When all is said and done, the HEMI® engine with eTorque can tow up to 12,750 pounds, while the one without eTorque can tow up to 11,610 pounds. The Pentastar® engine has a maximum towing capacity of 7,730 pounds.

Ram 1500 Payload and Cargo Capacities

The 2019 Ram 1500 has a payload capacity of 2,300 pounds when properly equipped. You can load all this cargo into your choice of two beds:

• 5-Foot 7-Inch Cargo Bed: 53.9 cubic feet
• 6-Foot 5-Inch Cargo Bed: 61.5 cubic feet

If you need even more space, you can keep smaller items like tools in the available RamBox® Cargo Management System. This includes two storage boxes located along the walls of the bed, over the wheels, where they don’t take any space away from the bed itself.

They’re lockable and come with a 115-volt power outlet so that you can power up your tools when you get to the worksite or plug in a set of speakers at the tailgate.

Loading and unloading the bed is easier, too, with the available Mopar® kick-out bed step. It deploys from under the rear bumper with a simple kick so that you have a firm foothold while entering the bed.

Productive Technology

As you get to work, the new Ram 1500 provides you several technology features that can help you improve uptime and get the job done.

For example, available Blind Spot Monitoring with Trailer Detection provides a visual cue when another vehicle enters your side blind spot and extends this coverage along the length of the trailer. This can help you know when the coast is clear to merge or change lanes safely.

It also has an available 360-degree Surround View Camera that can provide a video feed of the area surrounding your vehicle. This can make it easier to align your hitch with your trailer, parallel park, or reverse out of a space in a crowded parking lot.
