2020 Jeep Compass Powertrain Review

2020 Jeep Compass ReviewThe new Jeep Compass is powered by a highly drivable engine that focuses on balancing efficiency and power. It’s a 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 I-4 engine that generates 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. It can tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped and gets an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 23 MPG city and an impressive 32 MPG highway.

It gets these fuel economy numbers when paired with its 6-speed manual transmission and a 4x2 drivetrain. Automatic transmission options are also available, as is a highly capable 4-wheel drive system (4x4).

To help maximize on handling capability, the 4x4 system also comes with the Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System. It includes up to five selectable drive modes, so you can customize your handling capabilities to your specific terrain.

Drive modes are Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and available Rock.

Safety Technologies

2020 Jeep Compass ReviewWe understand that safety is a big concern for many drivers when shopping for a new set of wheels. The great news is that the 2020 Jeep Compass comes with an array of available smart safety features that are designed to help you hit the road with even more confidence.

Available driver-assist features include:

  • Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go
  • LaneSense® Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist
  • Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking

It also has available visibility features, like rain-sensing windshield wipers. These automatically turn your wipers on and adjust their speed based on the rate of precipitation on the windshield.

An available rear backup camera with dynamic gridlines can also help you parallel park or back out of a space with ease. It does this by turning your available 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen display into a live video feed of the area directly behind your car.

Interior Specs of the 2020 Compass

Behind the rear seat, you can load up 27.2 cubic feet of cargo. If you need to bring along even more, fold down the rear seats to access the full cargo volume of 59.8 cubic feet.

As the driver, you’ll be treated to 39.2 inches of headroom and 41.8 inches of legroom. Rear-seat passengers get 38.5 inches of headroom and 38.3 inches of legroom. These dimensions all add up to a total passenger volume of 100 cubic feet.
