Jeep Wrangler vs Chevrolet Blazer

Jeep Wrangler

Rugged SUVs are all the craze around Clarks Summit, Dickson City, and Dalton, Pennsylvania. Not only do these types of boxy vehicles look cool, but they can also take you wherever you want to go. Because of the success of this segment, though, a lot of copycats have appeared. Separating the contenders from pretenders is our job at Scranton Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram.

The long-time favorite for many in the off-roading SUV segment is the Jeep Wrangler. Recently, Chevy revived the Blazer, though. So, how do they stack up? We’ll find out in this Jeep Wrangler vs. Chevy Blazer comparison!

Wrangler vs Blazer: Performance Options

Jeep Wrangler Performance Specs

Odds are you have some ideas of how your next SUV should drive and behave. Performance customizability is a big part of the Jeep Wrangler; less so in the Blazer, however.

Jeep offers four engines in the Wrangler:

  • Available 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder
  • Available 3.0L EcoDiesel V6
  • Standard 3.6L Pentastar® V6
  • Available 6.4L HEMI® V8

The V8 is reserved for the Rubicon 392 trim and makes 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Not to be forgotten, there’s also the Jeep Wrangler 4xe for those that want to dip their toes into electric driving. The 4xe can travel an estimated 49 miles on just electric power!

So, how does the Chevy Blazer respond? Well, there are only two engines available. The first is a standard 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder with the second being an available 3.6L V6. The V6 is punchy, but at just 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, it’s closer to the Jeep 4-cylinder engine in output than it is the burly V8.

Wrangler vs Blazer: Who Can Really Travel Off-Road?

Jeep Wrangler Off-Road

Adventure is in the history and bones of the Jeep Wrangler. The utilitarian roots of the SUV have remained through the years, even as the model itself has become more refined for everyday driving purposes. The Blazer simply can’t match the off-roading hardware of the Jeep.

Notice a stream is blocking your path to the cabin? The Wrangler offers an optional high air intake, sealed electrical connections, and moisture-resistant body openings to keep your SUV safe. The Blazer offers none of these features.

Want to select your preferred 4x4 system? In the Wrangler, you have three heavy-duty options, far more than you’ll find available in the Blazer:

  • Command-Trac® 4x4 system
  • Selec-Trac® 4x4 system
  • Rock-Trac® 4x4 system

The list of features in the Jeep goes on and on, like the available 100:1 crawl ratio and the optional Off-Road+ button that alters the behavior of your SUV to better tackle uneven terrain. The Blazer simply can’t match these time-tested technologies.

Jeep Wrangler Exposes the Chevy Blazer

The Blazer simply doesn’t live up to its namesake in the same manner the Wrangler does. Real adventuring around Clark Summit, Dickson City, and Dalton, PA, requires one of the trims from the varied Wrangler trim list.

At Scranton DCJR, we have different trims in stock. You can view them online right now, and if you want, you can also test drive them!
