Within the Ram 1500 trim levels—the Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and TRX—you can find five different engines that produce varying levels of power. The Ram 1500 comes standard with a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque, a Mild Hybrid Technology system that works in tandem with the engine to produce 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque.

If you want an engine that delivers more towing power, there are other options to explore. The available 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine produces 260 horsepower paired with 480 lb-ft of torque. To take it to a higher level, pick the 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine or the 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine with eTorque. They both produce 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.

For breathtaking levels of power, there is the Supercharged 6.2L HEMI® V8 engine. Not only can this engine offer you 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, but it can also go from 0 to 60 MPH in 4.5 seconds.

The class-exclusive standard TorqueFlite® 8-speed automatic transmission allows each engine to handle and optimize shift changes for any challenging conditions ahead.

Ram 1500 Towing and Safety Technology

You can rely on the Ram 1500’s variety of safety systems to supply you with efficiency and expertise as you tow. To hook up your trailer to your truck, the available Active-Level™ Four Corner Air Suspension assists you with this task in tandem with the optional 360° Surround View Camera.

With five cameras strategically placed around your truck, you can see everything around you at all times. When you’re pulling a trailer, available Trailer Camera Wiring allows up to two auxiliary cameras that are located on or in the trailer to make sure it is properly positioned.

The available Trailer Reverse Steering Control system lets you use the Trailer Steering knob in your center stack to control the trailer as you back up. The system will take control of your Ram truck’s steering wheel, and you can see the trajectory of the trailer on the touchscreen.

It’s important to keep an eye on the health of your trailer while you’re driving, and the Ram 1500 gives you ways to do that. An available Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring system gives you live tire pressure readings for up to four trailers and 12 tires per trailer, all of which you can see at one time.

An available Trailer Light Check can also keep tabs on the lights on your trailer to make sure they are working at all times. If you need to stop at a moment’s notice, you not only need to worry about yourself, your passengers, and your truck, but also the cargo you’re towing. The Ram 1500 comes standard with 14.9-inch brakes, the largest in its class.
