Technology features are abundant in both vehicles, allowing all passengers to take advantage of the latest trends. For example, both the Grand Cherokee and Highlander have Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto™ integration. You can connect to either one depending on your operating system of choice.

You’ll get a decent sound system while driving around since both models come standard with six speakers. However, they differ in the upgraded sound systems that are available.

In the Highlander, there’s the JBL^® w/Clari-Fi^® audio system that has 11 speakers. Compare that to the Grand Cherokee, which offers the Harman Kardon^® Premium Audio System with 19 speakers.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee can tow an impressive 7,200 pounds when hitched with the proper equipment. The Toyota Highlander, on the other hand, only reaches 5,000 pounds of towing potential when properly configured.

The Grand Cherokee and Highlander have different engines to select from. While the Grand Cherokee has four choices, the Highlander only has two. The Grand Cherokee’s options pack considerably more power.

Take the Grand Cherokee’s 3.6L Pentastar^® V6 engine, which is the standard one, for example. It can produce up to 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Highlander’s standard gas engine is a 3.5L V6 that also produces 295 horsepower and has slightly more torque at 263 lb-ft.

However, upgrades for more power end there for the Toyota model. The only other engine option on the Highlander is a hybrid version that produces a total of 243 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.

The Jeep model, on the other hand, has a few options. Moving up from the Grand Cherokee’s base engine, there’s the 5.7L HEMI^® V8, which will get you 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Then, there’s the 6.4 SRT^® V8 that produces up to 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Last but not least, you can step it up with the Supercharged 6.2L V8 engine. This one produces up to 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.
